Former MLA YSV Dutta, renowned both as a mathematician and a political luminary, was felicitated with the J.P. Award at the Jayaprakash Narayan-124 programme organized jointly by Bharat Yatra Kendra and Loknayak JP Vichar Vedike.
Literary critic Baraguru Ramachandrappa, speaking at the event, lauded Dutta’s contributions, saying, “YSV Dutta exemplifies purity, simplicity, and rigor in politics. True mastery is not confined to academics alone. Real masters work to shape society, minds, and dreams, and their words serve the public good. Dutta is such a master wherever he goes. This praise is not just because of the award—I have observed his efforts firsthand, including the cultural and social initiatives he brought to the Ram Mandir in Rajajinagar.”
Ramachandrappa further noted Dutta’s dedication to politics and scholarship, highlighting that he continues to contribute thoughtful articles to newspapers while maintaining simplicity and politeness in public life.
Reflecting on Jayaprakash Narayan’s legacy, Ramachandrappa emphasized JP’s dynamic thinking, his fight against systemic injustices, and his concern for Dalits, marginalized communities, and farmers.
State Policy and Planning Commission Vice Chairman B.R. Patil stressed the importance of reviving the movement, saying, “Myself, B.L. Shankar, and Mohan Kondajji are among the last links of this movement. Today, in challenging times, it is imperative to carry forward the work of building it.”
Film director T.N. Seetharam recalled Dutta’s election victory from Kadur constituency, noting, “He won against money power and brute force, with people’s support.”
The programme also featured speeches by Karnataka Chitrakala Parishad President B.L. Shankar and former MLC Mohan Kondajji. Bharat Yatra Kendra General Secretary K.V. Nagarajamurthy, Loknayak JP Vichara Vedike President R. Dayanand Kolar, and coordinators K.S. Nagaraj, P. Vijay Kumar, and Ali Baba were present at the event.
