Renowned Kannada actor Vashishtha Simha has been appointed as the brand ambassador for the state’s ambitious ‘If there is water, tomorrow’ project, aimed at promoting groundwater conservation, said Minor Irrigation Minister NS Boseraju. The initiative will be launched by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar.
Speaking at a media briefing at Vikas Soudha, Boseraju highlighted that the campaign seeks to increase groundwater levels and raise public awareness on water conservation. A program was held at the Banquet Hall of Vidhana Soudha to formally introduce the actor as the ambassador. The project emphasizes the importance of safeguarding natural water sources, including those developed by previous generations, and aims to involve citizens actively in conservation efforts.
In its first phase, the project will be implemented in 525 groundwater-overuse gram panchayats across 27 taluks in 16 districts, with over 100 panchayats located in the Kalyan Karnataka region. The program encourages local communities to participate in sustainable water management practices, ensuring a water-secure future for the state.
Boseraju, in a statement on X, said, “If there is water, tomorrow is water – water is the future. With the visionary leadership of the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, we are launching a unique state-wide campaign to conserve traditional water sources, rejuvenate groundwater, and raise awareness about sustainable water use. I am happy to share that renowned Kannada actor Vashishtha Simha is joining hands with us as the brand ambassador. Let us all take responsibility for conserving water together.”
