Arun Vijay Reflects on ‘Vanangaan’, Praises Team Effort

Actor Arun Vijay has opened up about the journey of director Bala’s Vanangaan, which did not meet box office expectations during the competitive Pongal 2025 season. Despite its commercial underperformance, Arun Vijay expressed pride in the film’s artistic quality and his own performance, noting the positive response from fans and the strong reception following its digital release.

In a conversation with Behindwoods, Arun Vijay explained that the timing of Vanangaan’s release affected its commercial success. He compared it to Mission: Chapter 1 (2024), which performed well because it released in a relatively quieter period between big films. I am satisfied that I worked on a meaningful project with a director I truly admire. Fans appreciated my character, and the digital premiere feedback has been encouraging, he said.

Arun Vijay also highlighted that a film’s success is never the effort of a single actor alone. In the film industry, as in the military, it’s understood that one person cannot carry a whole project. A movie succeeds through the combined work of the production team, promotion crew, and everyone involved, he noted.

Recently, Arun Vijay received acclaim for playing the antagonist in Dhanush’s Idli Kadai. Looking ahead, he is preparing for the release of Retta Thala, where he plays a dual role. The film, directed by Kris Thirukumaran of Maan Karate, stars Siddhi Idnani as the female lead. Fans are eagerly anticipating Arun Vijay’s next outing, confident that his upcoming films will showcase his versatility and screen presence.

Through his reflections, Arun Vijay balances acceptance of Vanangaan’s commercial challenges with pride in his craft and optimism for future projects.
