KKRDB Chairman Dr. Ajay Singh stated that the Congress-led government is actively assisting farmers affected by ongoing floods along the banks of River Bhima. He emphasized that relief measures are operational and continue to provide much-needed support to the affected population.

Dr. Singh urged farmers not to panic, to avail themselves of government assistance, and to focus on rebuilding their lives. During his visit to flood-affected villages in Jewargi taluk—including Mavuru, Rasanagi, Yakkanchi, and Mandarwada—he held meetings with farmers, engaging with them personally and assuring them of government intervention to alleviate their hardships. A total of Rs 2,500 crore has been earmarked as compensation, with additional allocations to cover crop damage across 10 lakh hectares.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah assured that funds would be released promptly after surveys are completed, encouraging farmers to remain resilient. In Jewargi’s Tur-growing areas along River Bhima, roughly 20 percent of riverside villages sustained extensive damage, necessitating the evacuation of hundreds of residents. Dr. Singh noted that continuous rainfall over the past two months has kept the ground saturated, complicating recovery efforts.

Authorities have deployed six district-level nodal officers to oversee relief operations. Thirty neighbouring villages have been identified as affected, with 30 care centres established to assist displaced residents. Approximately 3,500 people have been relocated and provided with support. “We ensure people are never left in trouble,” Dr. Singh stated, adding that swift government action and community cooperation remain priorities.
