Cemetery land has already been allocated to Scheduled Castes in the district, and the Social Welfare Department will take steps to purchase cemetery land for villages in need, said Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan.
He was speaking while presiding over the District Level Violence Control Awareness Committee meeting.
“The Revenue and Forest Departments should conduct a joint survey to identify cemetery land for the Scheduled Communities in Londa, prepare a report and submit a proposal. If the public comes forward to provide the necessary land for the cemetery land in Khanapur, the process for purchasing such land should be initiated, he said.
He also suggested that if SC-ST patients leave their caste certificates at the time of admission to the district government hospital, they should be provided with temporary treatment. They should be allowed to submit their caste certificates later. If the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe patients admitted to the district hospital fail to produce their caste certificates within 48 hours, steps should be taken to refund the amount paid for treatment.
Atrocities Control Committee member Karappa Gudenavara said. “The filling of backlog posts in the Forest Department and the promotion of SC-ST employees who are already working are being delayed as per the rules. This issue has already been discussed in the meeting many times. The District Collector should immediately consider this issue seriously and order promotion as per the rules.”
Karappa Guden, Member of the Violence Control Committee, said, there has been discussion to name the city’s RPD circle after Veera Madakari Nayaka. However, the municipal council has decided to name it differently.
