Greater Bengaluru ward draft report released

Public invited to provide feedback on new municipal boundaries by October 15

The state government has approved the draft report for the re-delineation of wards in the five municipal corporations under the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) and invited public objections and suggestions.

The Ward Re-Delineation Commission, chaired by GBA Chief Commissioner Maheshwara Rao, was constituted for a period of three months to review and revise the ward boundaries in accordance with sub-sections (1) and (3) of Section 29 of the Greater Bangalore Administration Act, 2024.

The re-delineation exercise follows the government guidelines for reorganizing wards within the newly established Bengaluru Urban Corporations. The commission submitted its report to the state government on September 30, 2025, which has now been accepted. The draft has been prepared based on the 2011 Census, ensuring that each ward reflects population distribution and urban planning requirements.

Under the draft, the Bengaluru Central Municipal Corporation will have 63 wards, Bangalore South 72 wards, Bengaluru East 50 wards, Bengaluru West 111 wards, and Bengaluru North 72 wards. Residents and stakeholders who may be affected by these changes have the opportunity to submit objections or suggestions in writing, including their full address, signature, and valid reasons.

All submissions should be sent to the Additional Chief Secretary, Urban Development Department, Room No. 436, 4th Floor, Vikas Soudha, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Road, Bengaluru-560001, by October 15, 2025, before 5 PM. The government has emphasized that public participation is essential for ensuring transparency and accuracy in the ward re-division process, enabling better representation and governance across Greater Bengaluru.
