Actress Rukmini Vasanth, who stars in the upcoming film Kantara: Chapter 1, recently shared her hopes of working in Bollywood, especially with top banners like Dharma Productions. Known for her performances in Kannada cinema, Rukmini is now ready for bigger horizons, she said, “Dharma films are classics. If I get the chance, I would love to work with them. I’m not thinking too far ahead, but yes, I’m open and hopeful.”
She added that the pandemic taught her to live in the present. “COVID showed me not to plan too specifically. I just want to be part of stories that are fun, dramatic, or beautiful,” she said.
In Kantara: Chapter 1, Rukmini plays Kanakavathi, a powerful character revealed during Varamahalakshmi festival. The film, directed by Rishab Shetty, is a prequel to the 2022 hit Kantara. It explores deep mythological themes and is set for release on October 2 in multiple languages.
Rukmini praised Shetty’s dedication on set, calling the experience “thrilling and inspiring.” With films like Sapta Sagaradaache Ello and Bagheera behind her, she is now eyeing pan-India fame—with Bollywood possibly in her near future.
