Israel says it targeted nearly 140 terror sites across Gaza

 The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported that since Saturday, it has targeted approximately 140 terror sites across Gaza, striking military compounds and combat structures. According to the IDF, the Israel Air Force employed anti-tank missiles to dismantle key military infrastructure, while ground troops eliminated terrorists and destroyed observation equipment in both Gaza City and southern Gaza. The military described the operations as aimed at neutralizing active threats and securing strategic areas.

In a post on X, the IDF stated: “Gaza City: IDF troops along with the IAF dismantled military structures and combat compounds, and identified and eliminated several terrorists firing an anti-tank missile. Southern Gaza: IDF troops eliminated terrorists and dismantled observation equipment & military infrastructure.”

Meanwhile, Hamas confirmed that ceasefire negotiations in Qatar’s capital, Doha, have stalled following an Israeli attack on its negotiating team in early September. The group said it has not received new proposals from mediators but remains open to considering any future offers “positively,” according to Al Jazeera.

In parallel, Israel’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir advanced plans for a controversial bill imposing the death penalty on terrorists. Speaking to the Knesset National Security Committee, he said the legislation would serve as a deterrent and facilitate the return of hostages taken in the October 7 attacks. Despite requests from the Prime Minister’s Office to delay the discussion, Ben Gvir insisted the debate proceed, citing concerns that postponement would weaken the measure’s impact and accountability for Hamas actions. The escalation underscores continued tensions In Gaza, with military operations, stalled diplomacy, and legislative measures intersecting as Israel presses its security agenda while Hamas maintains readiness to negotiate under certain conditions.
