Bengaluru voter list revision underway

Authorities Urge Citizens to Verify Details Amid Citywide Administrative Oversight Measures

The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has initiated a comprehensive revision of the voter lists across 8,972 polling centers in the city, officials confirmed on Friday. The exercise aims to ensure accuracy and inclusiveness ahead of upcoming elections, with authorities stressing that all complaints related to the voter list must be addressed promptly.

During a high-level meeting, Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao instructed officials to conduct the revision without any lapses, emphasizing the importance of transparency and responsiveness throughout the process. Political parties have been directed to provide requested information immediately, ensuring that their queries do not delay the exercise. Authorities also highlighted the need for strict adherence to timelines and procedures to avoid any discrepancies in the voter database.

The session was attended by Special Commissioner Preeti Gehlot, Assistant Commissioner Dr. B. Sharanappa, and representatives of recognized political parties. Officials discussed strategies to handle public grievances efficiently and reviewed mechanisms for verifying voter details at each polling center. They also focused on training staff to manage data collection, verification, and reporting accurately, reinforcing GBA’s commitment to a smooth and fair voter list revision.

Authorities reiterated that the initiative is in line with directives from the Election Commission of India and forms a critical part of strengthening the electoral process in Bengaluru. Citizens are encouraged to participate actively, verify their voter details, and report any discrepancies to ensure that the final list is accurate and up-to-date.
