Darshan alleges jail orders ignored

Actor Raises Concerns Over Prison Conditions, Court Orders Non-Compliance

The hearing of actor Darshan’s case was held on Thursday, September 25, at the Bengaluru Sessions Court, where the actor raised serious concerns regarding jail conditions and alleged non-compliance with previous court orders by prison authorities. Darshan, who along with his associates appeared online in connection with the Renukaswamy murder case, claimed that even after a month of incarceration, he and others were still confined to a quarantine cell.

Speaking during the hearing, Darshan said, The area where we are allowed to walk does not receive sunlight. Despite the court’s earlier instructions to provide a bed and pillow, other orders are not being followed. He further added that due to lack of sunlight, he had developed a fungal infection on his hand and requested permission to walk in a sunlit area, which the court had approved. However, he alleged that jail officials restricted him to a small, dimly lit space measuring only 23 by 5 feet. Darshan’s lawyer, Sunil, expressed frustration, stating that jail staff repeatedly demanded to see the court order multiple times before complying with instructions. Is this a goon state? he questioned, highlighting the difficulties faced in ensuring court-mandated rights are implemented within the prison. The court acknowledged the actor’s grievances and adjourned the hearing to October 9, allowing authorities time to address the issues raised. Observers noted that the case has brought renewed attention to prisoner rights and the responsibilities of jail administration in following judicial directives.
