The health department has to give priority for arranging awareness programmes in rural areas to prevent health problems

“Awareness is the medicine to prevent the spread of HIV AIDS,” said District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr GP Renuprasad.
He spoke after launching the HIV and AIDS awareness marathon competition as part of the Yuva Janotsava organised by the District AIDS Control and Prevention Unit at Kanaka Circle on Holalkere Road in the city on Wednesday.
He called on the youth to become more aware of this for AIDS control and to take the initiative to make others aware.
The marathon competition, which started from Kanaka Circle on Holalkere Road in Chitradurga city, proceeded through the main circle, tourist mandir, hospital circle and reached the Onake Obavva District Stadium.
In the marathon competition, Joshua, T Kushal, MC Sanjay in the men’s category and T Isiri, T Bindu, Gaganalakshmi in the women’s category won first, second and third positions respectively.
The programme was attended by District AIDS Control Officer Dr CO Sudha, District RCH Officer Dr DM Abhinav, District Supervisor V Ashoka, District NSS. Nodal Officer Dr N Dhankoti, President of Durga Runners M Sushmarani Chetan Babu and heads and staff of Saukhya Samudra Sanstha, Suchethana Network organizations.
Youth along with the service organisations must effectively involve in the awareness programmes arranged by health department. This will immensely help to eradicate HIV and AIDS to a great extent, District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr GP Renuprasad said.
