Bengaluru officials inspect STP facility

Officials urge regular monitoring to maintain lake ecology and prevent pollution effectively.

D.S. Ramesh, Commissioner of Bengaluru East City Corporation, conducted an inspection of the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) installed at B. Narayanapura Lake and its inlet, providing necessary directions to the officials in charge. The visit aimed to assess the operational efficiency of the facility and ensure proper maintenance of the water body and its surrounding infrastructure.

During the inspection, Ramesh was accompanied by Additional Commissioner (Development) Lokhande Snehal Sudhakar, Joint Commissioner Dr. Dakshayini K., and other senior officials. The team examined various aspects of the STP, including water inflow, filtration processes, and the treatment of effluents before discharge into the lake. Officials were directed to ensure that all mechanisms function smoothly to prevent pollution and maintain the ecological balance of the lake.

The Commissioner emphasized the Importance of monitoring sewage treatment facilities regularly, citing their role in protecting urban water bodies and promoting sustainable urban development. Local residents and environmentalists have welcomed such inspections, noting that consistent oversight helps prevent contamination and preserves aquatic life.

This visit is part of a larger initiative by the Greater Bengaluru Authority to strengthen civic infrastructure, maintain environmental standards, and enhance the quality of life for city residents. Authorities have urged officials to implement the guidelines promptly and continue periodic checks to ensure optimal functioning of the facility.
