In a swift response to a mass illness incident, Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi visited 16 students at the district hospital on Tuesday, offering them comfort and ensuring they receive the best possible care.

Sixteen students from the Morarji Desai Residential School in Hirekodi village, Chikkodi taluk, were hospitalised on Tuesday after experiencing severe stomach pain and vomiting, suspected to be a case of food poisoning after consuming their breakfast.

Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi made a surprise visit to the District Hospital to meet the affected children. The Minister personally inquired about each child’s health, speaking to them and their concerned parents, and offered words of encouragement.

Upon arrival, Minister Jarkiholi immediately consulted with the attending physicians to receive a detailed briefing on the students’ condition and the course of treatment. He instructed the medical staff to continue providing comprehensive care until all children have made a full and complete recovery.

Demonstrating a hands-on approach, the Minister went to the patients’ bedsides to speak with them directly. He inquired about the quality of the food being provided to them within the hospital, ensuring their nutritional needs were being met during their recovery.

Minister Jarkiholi issued a stern warning to the hospital authorities, stating that any negligence in the treatment of the students would not be tolerated and would result in strict action against responsible personnel. He emphasized that all necessary medicines and facilities must be provided without delay to ensure the children recuperate swiftly.

BIMS Director Dr. Ashok Shetty, district officials, hospital staff, and parents of the students were present during the visit.
