India’s fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has been named the ICC Player of the Month for August 2025 after his stunning performance in the final Test against England. Ireland’s all-rounder Orla Prendergast was also honored with the same award in the women’s category.
Siraj’s heroics came during the fifth Test at The Oval, where India defeated England by six runs. On the tense final day, Siraj took three crucial wickets, finishing with nine in the match. His spell helped India level the Anderson–Tendulkar Trophy series 2-2. The pacer said the recognition was a “special honour,” adding that competing in England’s conditions against a strong batting lineup brought out his best.
In women’s cricket, Orla Prendergast outshone Pakistan’s Muneeba Ali and the Netherlands’ Iris Zwilling to win the award. Prendergast was named Player of the Series during Ireland’s 2-1 T20I home series win over Pakistan. She scored 144 runs and took four wickets in that contest. She continued her excellent form in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier, where she scored 244 runs and picked up seven wickets in August.
Siraj’s recognition highlights India’s strength in bowling during key overseas Tests, while Prendergast’s award underlines Ireland’s rising talent in international women’s cricket. Both winners expressed pride in contributing to their teams during decisive series.
