Bellary
A tragic accident in Mosalehosahalli, Hassan district, on Friday night claimed the lives of nine people, including three engineering students. The deceased students were Praveen Kumar from Bellary, Mithun from Chitradurga, and Suresh from Chikkamagaluru. Their sudden deaths have left families and communities in deep shock.
Of the nine who died, eight were under 25 years old, while a 55-year-old local man was also among the victims. Praveen Kumar’s body was brought to his hometown in Bellary, leaving his mother, Sushilamma, devastated. She had raised him alone, working as a cook in a private hospital to support his education. Her dreams of seeing her son succeed were shattered in an instant. Praveen, in his final semester of engineering, had worked hard to build a future for his family.
Mithun had celebrated his birthday the night of the accident. Friends recalled cutting a cake and wishing him well, only to lose him hours later. Suresh’s body was brought to Manenahalli, where family and villagers mourned in silence. His brother, Raju, performed the final rites.
Legislative Council member C.T. Ravi visited the village to pay his respects, while former Minister B. Sriramulu met the grieving families and urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to provide Rs 10 lakh in compensation to Praveen Kumar’s family. He acknowledged that no compensation can bring back the lost lives, but it could provide essential support to the bereaved families.
The tragic incident has left an irreparable void in the lives of the victims’ families, highlighting the fragility of life and the deep pain caused by such sudden accidents.
