K.V. Prabhakar, Media Advisor to the Chief Minister, has reaffirmed his commitment to raising the issue of affordable housing for journalists in genuine need with both the Chief Minister and the Housing Minister.

Speaking after receiving an honor at a dialogue program organized for the district reporters’ meeting, he said, “I began my journalism career in a rural area and have personally faced the challenges that journalists endure. I understand the difficulties of working in remote locations, and that is why the concerns of journalists are being addressed gradually. Steps have already been taken to ease the strict rules on bus passes for rural journalists, ensuring better access to transportation.”

He further assured that the demands of the journalists’ guild would be given due consideration. The guild has requested support for constructing a dedicated residence and a building for their official activities. These proposals will be reviewed carefully, and appropriate measures will be taken to provide the necessary assistance, he added.

Prabhakar emphasized the government’s recognition of the valuable role played by journalists, especially those working in rural areas, and promised continuous support to improve their working conditions. He also highlighted that initiatives like relaxing bus pass conditions and exploring housing options aim to make life and work easier for journalists serving in challenging environments.

Through these measures, the administration seeks to address long-standing demands of the journalist community and provide practical support that enhances their professional and personal well-being.
