Flood relief measures initiated in KR Puram

In a proactive move to tackle urban flooding, the Deputy Commissioner of Bengaluru East City Corporation, Lokhande Snehal Sudhakar, conducted an inspection of major stormwater drains in the KR Puram area on Sunday. The visit focused on assessing clogged drains, overflowing water channels, and other flood-prone pockets in the locality.

During the inspection, Sudhakar instructed officials to expedite cleaning and maintenance work in critical zones, emphasizing the importance of swift action to prevent waterlogging during the approaching monsoon season. The Deputy Commissioner reviewed the functionality of large drainage systems, highlighting areas where accumulated debris and vegetation could obstruct water flow.

Authorities were directed to prioritize drainage clearance in flood-affected areas and coordinate with local ward offices to monitor ongoing water management operations. Sudhakar also stressed the need for preventive measures, including timely removal of waste and construction debris, to avoid disruption to the city’s drainage network.

Residents of KR Puram have faced recurring waterlogging issues during heavy rains in previous years, causing inconvenience and damage to properties. The administration’s prompt action aims to reduce the risk of flooding and ensure the safety and mobility of residents.

The Bengaluru East City Corporation has assured continuous monitoring of the situation and committed to taking immediate action in areas identified as high-risk. This inspection marks a significant step in improving Bengaluru’s urban drainage infrastructure and mitigating monsoon-related challenges.
