Producer Boney Kapoor has spoken out strongly against Baahubali producer Shobu Yarlagadda, accusing him of spreading false claims about his late wife, actress Sridevi. In an interview with film critic Komal Nahta, Boney addressed long-standing rumors about why Sridevi did not play the iconic role of Sivagami in S.S. Rajamouli’s blockbuster film.
Director Rajamouli had initially approached Sridevi for the role, which was later played by Ramya Krishna. After Baahubali’s release, reports surfaced suggesting that Sridevi made unreasonable demands, such as asking for an entire hotel floor during the shoot. These claims were denied at the time by both Sridevi and Boney.
Now, Boney Kapoor claims Shobu Yarlagadda played a key role in creating a rift between Rajamouli and Sridevi. He alleged that Shobu deliberately misrepresented Sridevi’s stance and even quoted a much lower fee than what she received for English Vinglish. He firmly denied the hotel floor claim, calling it “completely untrue.”
The revelation has reopened discussions around the casting choices of Baahubali and the behind-the-scenes politics in the film industry. Kapoor’s remarks have sparked strong reactions online from both fans and insiders.
