Commissioner reviews drainage, civic works to prevent monsoon disruptions
In a comprehensive inspection to address urban flooding and infrastructure issues, Bengaluru North City Corporation Commissioner Shri Pommala Sunil Kumar surveyed multiple waterlogging spots, civic works, and public utility points across Ward 01 and Ward 04 on Sunday morning. The inspection aimed to identify vulnerable areas and ensure effective planning for both immediate and long-term solutions.
The Commissioner began his survey at the NHAI Junction in Kogilu, reviewing existing waterlogging conditions and discussing remedial measures with officials. At Kogilu Circle, he inspected ongoing stormwater drain works and pinpointed areas prone to flooding. Ward 04’s PK Mustering Points were also examined to assess emergency preparedness and accessibility in case of heavy rains.
In addition to drainage infrastructure, the inspection extended to public facilities and development projects. At Food Street in Ward 04, Shri Sunil Kumar evaluated waste management operations and overall maintenance of civic amenities. The conditions of Ramanashree California Gardens and Puttenahalli Lake were closely monitored, with emphasis on preventing overflow and ensuring proper drainage connectivity to surrounding water bodies.
Joint Commissioner Shri Mohammad Naeem Momin and several Executive Engineers accompanied the Commissioner during the inspection, coordinating on-site assessments and immediate action plans. Officials were instructed to prioritize waterlogging-prone zones and implement preventive measures before the peak monsoon days.
The survey underscores Bengaluru North City Corporation’s commitment to proactive urban management, improving public infrastructure, and safeguarding residents from flood-related disruptions. Regular monitoring and timely maintenance of stormwater drains and public amenities are expected to enhance the city’s resilience against seasonal waterlogging challenges, ensuring both safety and convenience for residents.
