MEA Refuses to Comment on Trump’s Social Media PostNew Delhi

The Ministry of External Affairs has opted not to respond to US President Donald Trump’s recent post on social media regarding India, Russia, and China

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Friday chose not to comment on US President Donald Trump’s recent post mentioning India, Russia, and China. The post came days after the SCO Summit in Tianjin, China, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin. I have no comments to offer on this post at this time, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal told the media.

On India–US relations, Jaiswal emphasized their significance, saying the two countries share a comprehensive global strategic partnership based on democratic values, shared interests, and strong people-to-people ties. He highlighted ongoing cooperation, including joint military exercises in Alaska and recent inter-sessional 2+2 meetings, stressing that talks continue to strengthen the partnership.

Jaiswal also noted India’s engagement with the US on trade matters and reaffirmed the importance of forums like the Quad for discussing shared interests. On the Ukraine conflict, he welcomed efforts to establish peace and urged all parties to proceed constructively, underlining India’s support for an early resolution and lasting stability.

Trump’s post, which read, Looks like we’ve lost India and Russia to deepest, darkest China. May they have a long and prosperous future together! followed US-imposed tariffs on Indian goods, including penalties related to Russian oil imports. The government reiterated that India’s relations with any country are independent and should not be interpreted through the lens of another nation.

The MEA’s measured response reflects India’s focus on maintaining balanced diplomatic ties, emphasizing constructive engagement with multiple countries while continuing to prioritize national interests and strategic partnerships.
