Dinesh Karthik urges support for stampede victims

New Delhi

Dinesh Karthik, mentor and batting coach of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), has extended heartfelt condolences to the families affected by the tragic stampede outside M Chinnaswamy Stadium on June 4. The incident occurred during RCB’s IPL trophy celebration, where nearly 3 lakh fans had gathered. The stampede led to 11 deaths and left over 50 injured.

In a message shared on RCB’s official Instagram, Karthik said, “My heartfelt condolences go out to all of the families who lost loved ones. I pray and hope that God gives you strength, and I ask all fans to join us in showing care and togetherness during this difficult time.”

Last month, RCB announced Rs 25 lakh financial aid to each of the bereaved families. The franchise also launched a new support initiative called “RCB CARES.” The program aims to provide long-term help, not just financial, but also emotional and practical support.

RCB stated, “They were part of what makes our city, community, and team unique. Their absence will echo in our memories.” The initiative promises fast, transparent assistance and seeks to uplift fans, now seen as part of the team’s extended family.
