Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday announced a comprehensive development plan for Anjanadri Hill in Koppal district, aiming to enhance facilities for pilgrims and promote the site’s mythological and tourism appeal.

Chairing a high-level meeting, Siddaramaiah instructed ministers and officials to provide improved amenities for visitors, especially senior citizens. “Lakhs of people visit the hill during Hanuman Jayanti, and many tourists from North India also come here. Dormitory facilities, stairs for the elderly, community halls, and other basic infrastructure should be prioritised,” he said, according to an official release.

So far, works worth ₹200 crore have been sanctioned under two phases, with ₹10 crore already released. The CM asked the Finance Department to provide additional grants for the remaining works, which include purchasing 101.30 acres of private land due to a shortage of government land in the area.

Since most projects fall under the jurisdiction of the forest department, Siddaramaiah also directed officials to secure the necessary clearances.

The government has additionally approved the construction of ropeways at 11 tourist sites across Karnataka, including Anjanadri Hill, under a Public-Private Partnership model.

Located across the Tungabhadra River, Anjanadri Hill is closely associated with the Kishkinda region of the Ramayana. Known for its panoramic views and sacred heritage, the hill draws thousands of devotees and tourists year-round.
