Cricket South Africa has announced that Cape Town’s Newlands Cricket Ground will host the final of SA20 Season 4, with the playoff venues also confirmed. The T20 league begins December 26 and will bring high-stakes action across four cities.
For the first time, Durban’s Kingsmead will host a playoff match, staging Qualifier 1 on January 21, featuring the league’s top two teams. The Eliminator will take place at Centurion on January 22, followed by Qualifier 2 at the Wanderers in Johannesburg on January 23.
All past SA20 finals have sold out, and League Commissioner Graeme Smith expects another electric atmosphere this season. “Newlands sold out all five matches last year. Hosting the final on a Sunday makes it perfect for fans,” Smith said.
He added that scheduling playoff games close together is challenging but important. “It allows for better logistics between matches, especially with only two days between the group stage and playoffs,” he noted.
The next key event is the Player Auction on September 9, where franchises will complete their 19-player squads. With USD 7.4 million available for bidding, top Proteas and global stars are expected to attract big attention.
