Fake Currency Racket Unearthed in Jaisalmer, ₹67,000 Seized

Jaipur

In a major operation, Jaisalmer Police busted a fake currency racket and arrested two men with counterfeit notes worth Rs 67,000. The investigation was conducted under the supervision of District Superintendent of Police Abhishek Shivhare.

The case began on August 18 when Asrud Ali filed a complaint at Kotwali Jaisalmer, reporting that a man at his e-Mitra centre had offered an online payment of Rs 10,000 in exchange for Rs 10,100 in cash. Suspecting something, Ali checked the currency the next day and found nine notes to be fake. A case was promptly registered, and SP Shivhare ordered immediate action.

Multiple teams were deployed under Additional SP Kailashdan Jugtawat and Circle Officers Roop Singh Inda and Gajendra Singh Champawat, with Head Constable Bhimrao Singh coordinating. The police arrested Mohammad Kumail alias Dhanu (23) from Purnia, Bihar, and Usman Qureshi (27) from Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Authorities recovered 125 fake Rs 500 notes and other counterfeit currency totaling Rs 67,000.

The accused are being interrogated to trace the source of the fake notes and identify other members of the network. Key personnel involved in the operation included SHO Bhutaram, Constables Khetpal Singh, Ashok Kumar, and Hazar Singh. Police said strict vigilance and swift action were crucial in dismantling the racket before it could spread further.

This comes after Alwar Police busted a similar gang in July, which duped people using counterfeit Manoranjan Bank notes, arresting three individuals in the process.
