Shai Hope’s unbeaten century and Jayden Seales’ fiery six-wicket haul powered West Indies to their first ODI series win over Pakistan since 1991, with a crushing 202-run victory in the final match at Brian Lara Cricket Stadium.
Batting first, West Indies posted 294/6. Pakistan struck early as Naseem Shah dismissed Brandon King for five, but Evin Lewis (37) and Keacy Carty (17) added 47 runs. Hope, coming in at number four, anchored the innings with an unbeaten 120, his 18th ODI hundred — moving past Desmond Haynes’ tally of 17 centuries. He is now behind only Chris Gayle (25) and Brian Lara (19) for West Indies.
Hope shared vital stands with Sherfane Rutherford (15), Roston Chase (36), and then a match-defining unbeaten 110-run partnership with Justin Greaves (43*). The duo added 119 runs in the last 10 overs, smashing 11 fours and five sixes to set the series’ highest total. Naseem and Abrar Ahmed took two wickets each, while Saim Ayub and Mohammad Nawaz took one apiece.
Chasing 295, Pakistan crumbled to 92 all out in 29.2 overs. Seales produced career-best figures of 6-18 in 7.2 overs — the third-best ODI figures for West Indies and the best against Pakistan. His new-ball burst reduced the visitors to 23-4. Salman Ali Agha (30) and Hasan Nawaz (13) briefly resisted, but Gudakesh Motie’s breakthrough ended their hopes. Pakistan’s last five wickets fell for just 31 runs.
With this win, West Indies sealed the series 2-1, marking their first triumph over Pakistan in more than three decades.
