Discontent Voiced By OCI Woman Over Alleged Airport Misbehavior

Must read

A recent incident involving an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) woman has raised concerns about the behavior of immigration officials at Bangalore’s Kempegowda International Airport. Nalini, a Saudi Arabia-based civil engineer, expressed her dismay over alleged mistreatment she faced upon arrival, shedding light on the incident that unfolded on June 22. Upon disembarking from the Gulf Air flight GF 282 originating from Bahrain, Nalini found herself at odds with the immigration officials of the Murkutla International Airport. She reported that she, accompanied by her 9-year-old son, was subjected to abusive and humiliating behavior. Despite reaching out to various airport departments to highlight her ordeal and lodging a complaint, her pleas for assistance fell on deaf ears. Nalini recounted her experience, stating, the conduct of the lady at the counter was utterly disappointing. Instead of offering assistance, she compelled me to complete another form. It was reminiscent of a schoolchild facing a stern headmaster. She highlighted that her son was bewildered by the mistreatment and questioned the unjust treatment they were subjected to. One of the key issues raised by Nalini was her alleged mishandling of the landing card, a mandatory procedure for OCIs. She indicated that the counter official displayed rudeness and a lack of respect while scrutinizing her form. The official purportedly criticized Nalini’s form completion and even resorted to shouting. In response, Nalini recounted, I was fatigued after a sleepless night and hastily filled out the form. The incident has sparked discussions about the need for improved training and professionalism among immigration officials. Nalini’s experience has underlined the importance of courteous and efficient service delivery, especially to individuals who hold OCI status. As the authorities investigate the matter, attention is being directed toward ensuring that all travelers, regardless of their background, are treated with respect and dignity during their interactions with immigration personnel.
