The People On The Banks Of The Krishna River Are Worried About Floods

Riverine people of the district are worried as more water has been released from Narayanpura Reservoir in Lingasugur Taluk into Krishna River and Bhima River from Urusangi Bridge Co. Barrage in Yadgiri District. In the beginning, the Krishna river had completely dried up without monsoon rains in the district. Due to this, there was a problem for the people, aquatic life and drinking water here. But for the last 9 days, there has been heavy rain in Maharashtra including the district. 1.50 lakh cusecs of water was released from Narayanpura reservoir to Krishna river and 35 thousand cusecs of water was released to Bhima river from Urusanagi Bridge Co. barrage in Yadgiri district, due to which the water in the river is increasing, crocodiles are coming out.

Already, more than 20 crocodiles have been seen by villagers who were traveling in a steamer boat near the river bank of Kurvakala village in Raichur taluk. Due to this, the people of the river banks are worried. There are 82,168 people in about 72 villages on the banks of the Krishna River in the district. In this, there are 29,905 people living in 5,829 families of Raichur taluk. 11,263 people of 1,845 families are living in 13 villages of Lingasugur taluk.
