Karnataka Farmer Protection Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana-Mungaru 2023 campaign vehicle was launched by Deputy Commissioner Dr R Selvamani on Monday at the district administration office premises by showing the green signal.
Agriculture Department and Insurance Company of India Limited will carry out a campaign in the district on crop insurance for 15 days in this vehicle. On Monday the campaign was started across Shivamogga taluk and from Tuesday they will visit Bhadravathi, Shikaripura, Soraba, Hosanagar, Tirthahalli taluks to give information to the farmers about crop insurance. The central and state governments are implementing the Karnataka Raitha Suraksha Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana through Agricultural Insurance Company of India Ltd. in 9 districts of the state in the monsoon season of 2023.
The insurance amount for irrigated maize (irrigated) for Monsoon season is Rs.64,500 per hectare and the insurance amount is Rs.56,500 for irrigated maize (rainfed) and the last date for registration is July 31. The insurance amount for paddy (irrigated) is Rs.93,250, Paddy (rainfed) is Rs.63,750, Millet (rainfed) is Rs.42,500 and Corn (rainfed) is Rs.38250 and the insurance premium is 2.00 percent for each crop.
Farmers who have availed crop loan under this scheme have to submit in the prescribed form if they want to participate or not. Farmers who have not availed crop loan can contact their nearest commercial, rural, cooperative bank or CSC/Grama One/Karnataka One/Bangalore One to participate by paying the insurance installment. Farmers have to fill the prescribed application completely. Documents such as pahani, pass book, revenue receipt or account letter etc. should be given for owning land.
Posters containing information on Fasal Bima Yojana were released at the event. ZP CEO Snehal Sudhakar Lokhande, Joint Director Agriculture Purnima, District Coordinator Bhumika, Taluk Coordinator and other officials were present.
