“The contribution of Sanskrit language in Indian society is immense”

The reconstruction of Indian history, philosophy, culture, arts and aesthetics can be achieved with the help of Sanskrit education and research, said  Thawar Chand Gehlot, Governor of Karnataka.

 He was speaking at the inaugration of 59th All India Classical Competition event organized by the Central Sanskrit University in Delhi and the Karnataka Sanskrit University in Bengaluru.

 Sanskrit language has a rich tradition of knowledge synthesis which has contributed immensely to the overall development of all branches of education. Sanskrit is the ancient language of our country,  all the ancient texts and Vedas are in the Sanskrit language. The country’s culture lies in it. Sanskrit language is present also in modern times. Some research has revealed the fact that the human brain’s blood vessels and arteries work well with the pronunciation of Sanskrit letters and vowels, he said.

Our Indian culture always inspires world fraternity and world peace.

Parliament House, the world’s largest democratic shrine, has many Sanskrit references that remind us of our culture. Many countries in the world today are looking to India for spiritual and psychological well-being. Today it is necessary to provide quality Sanskrit education to all sections of society to spread the knowledge of Indian heritage, he said.

Connecting with digital technology is essential for the promotion of scriptures and all-round promotion of Sanskrit heritage. Through introduction of new National Education Policy 2020 (NEP) the contribution of Sanskrit language in Indian society and the importance of Sanskrit study has been clarified, he said.

 He said that we should all strive to improve the quality of Sanskrit research at the national and international level. The efforts of Central Sanskrit University in protecting sanskrit language is commendable, he said.

The Central Sanskrit University of Delhi hosts All India  Competition every year in various parts of the country.  This year the Karnataka Sanskrit University has organised this competition.  400 students are participating in the competition organised for 4 days.   It is commendable to discuss the wisdom of the scriptures on the 26 sub-subjects of the Sanskrit language, he said.

Former Vice Chancellor of Delhi Central Sanskrit University Paramaehswara Narayana Shastry, present Vice Chancellor Srinivasa Varkedi, Prof KE Devanathan, Vice Chancellor, Karnataka Sanskrit University were present.
