City Officials Mobilize Resources for Comprehensive Household Data Drive
The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has issued directives to expedite the socio-educational survey across its jurisdiction, aiming to gather comprehensive data on backward classes. Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao, in a virtual meeting on Thursday, instructed officials to ensure the survey begins without delay and that all enumerators receive proper training at their respective city corporation centers.
The survey, conducted In coordination with multiple city departments, will also involve ASHA workers, who have been trained to support field operations effectively. Nodal officers have been appointed to supervise progress, while city corporation commissioners are tasked with visiting training centers and conducting on-ground inspections. Rao warned that strict disciplinary measures will be enforced against officials failing to report for survey duties.
Secretary of the Backwards Classes Welfare Department, Tulsi Maddineni, confirmed that extensive preparations have been made, including the development of a GPS-based application to monitor field activities. Each household will be assigned a unique Household Identification (UHID) sticker, placed at the entrance to streamline data collection.
GBA Special Commissioner Munish Maudgil added that additional enumerators are being deployed, and ward-level planning is underway to ensure completion within the stipulated timeframe. Random checks will be conducted to verify the accuracy and quality of the survey.
Field staff have already begun visiting homes to affix GPS-tagged UHID stickers. Officials emphasized that the survey must be conducted efficiently across all five city corporations, with full support provided by the GBA to ensure a successful and comprehensive outcome.
