New Technology To Stop Mobile Use In City Jails

Must read

The government has given a green signal to the proposal of the State Prisons and Correctional Department to set up a Tower for Harmonious Call Blocking System (THCB) on the model of Tihar Jail, a prestigious prison in the country, to completely block the use of mobile phones in the country’s prisons. THCB towers are going to block the signals so that mobile calls from the prison do not go out. This is a better level of technology than mobile jammers. The project will be implemented first in Parappana Agrahara Central Jail, Bangalore. Sources told that after looking at the pros and cons, it has been decided to implement it in all the central prisons of the state in the next phase. It is frequently revealed that some convicts and convicts, including rowdies who are arrested in criminal cases, are communicating with the outside world through mobile phones from within the prisons. Also, there have been incidents of some rowdy people calling from the jail and threatening some people. Recently, a threat call was made to Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari from Hidalanga Central Jail in Belgaum and sparked a debate. In the background of these criminal acts, the prison department has made a huge effort to curb the illegal use of mobile phones in the jail and has made a plan for the installation of THCB towers which have been successful in the Tihar jail.
