The investigators have identified them as Ashok (40) and C Anjanamurthy (33) of Kamakshipalya. He was arrested on Friday. DCP (North) Shivprakash Devaraju told the media that the accused had hatched a conspiracy and killed the old woman to pay off the debt.
According to police sources, Ashok had come to Kamala’s house for plumbing work and noticed that the elderly woman was living alone. Her husband died last October. He disclosed this matter to the other accused in the bar a few days ago. Later, Siddaraj agreed to rob the old woman of her gold ornaments to pay off her debt. On the morning of May 27, the accused removed the registration plate of Anjanamurthy’s autorickshaw – which had King Kohli written on the back – and used it to drive to Kamala’s house, police said. That evening, he also reportedly hired another autorickshaw to the victim’s house on the pretext of asking if he could rent a space in her garage.
