City police arrested 10 people in three cases and seized 86kg of ganja from them.
Mahalakshmipuram police nabbed Mutturaj, 20, a resident of Srirampura, from Kamalammana Gundi area on February 21. They seized 350 grams of ganja from him.
Police learnt during further investigation that Muttuaraj used to procure druugs from one Gautham of Visakhapatnam. Gautham would allegedly bring huge quantities of the product whenever he came to Bengaluru. Police contacted Gautham through Puttaraj and came to know he would be coming to the city on Thursday. They spotted Gautham near Iskcon temple and arrested him and one of his associates.
Police said Gautham had packed around 80kg of ganja in wooden boxes and smuggled it from Visakhapatnam. Both the ganja and the vehicle were seized. The suspects are said to have confessed to procuring ganja at a lower price in Andhra Pradesh and selling it in Bengaluru for Rs 40,000-50,000 a kg.
Other seizures
In the second case, Siddapura police arrested a gang of six people and seized 3.5kg of ganja. The accused are Sadananda, 34, Shiva alias Anji, 32, Chand Pasha alias Gunda, 34, Gopi, 43, Kanyakumar, 30, and Srinivas, 53.
Further investigation helped the cops solve a theft case and seize Rs 1 lakh in cash from them. All six are habitual offenders and have cases against them in Mico Layout, Wilson Garden, Kempegowda Nagar, Tilak Nagar, JP Nagar, and Kumaraswamy Layout police stations.
In another case, Siddapura police arrested a 34-year-old man, Nujar Khan, for allegedly selling ganja. They also seized 2.5kg of ganja and two mobile phones from him.
