Two Devotees Die In Gollaleshwara, Basaveshwara Rathotsava

Two devotees have died in separate incidents in the district.

A man was killed in an accident that took place at Golageri village in Sindagi taluk of the district. The deceased has been identified as Saheb Patel   Khajapatela Kachapura (55).

Since the age of 18, he has been tying kalash and umbrellas to the chariot. However, in the incident, he fell down from the chariot and died after the rope in his hand fell off. He fell on the people who had participated in the rathotsava. It is learnt that a man’s leg was broken during the incident. Rathotsava has been cancelled.   Lakhs of devotees from different parts of the country, including Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh, gather for the fair.

 A villager named Nagappa Yallappa Vanakyala (24) slipped and fell while holding the rope of the chariot as part of Basarakoda Pavada Basaveshwar Jatrotsava. He was seriously injured and was admitted to the Taluk hospital by the public  and the Police. He was seriously injured due to a torn wheel and died in Bagalkot hospital. The incident took place in Muddebihal Police Sation.
