Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES), which had been struggling for its survival after miserably losing the elections of  City Corporation  one-and-a-half years ago, and getting whitewashed in 2018 elections, now has the complete backing of National Congress Party (NCP) Chief Sharad Pawar.
According to MES sources, Pawar is likely to address an election rally in favour of MES candidates shortly. MES leaders are constantly in touch with Pawar and taking guidance from him. Pawar also addressed s rally in favour of MES in 2018 elections at CPED ground, but due to huge internal disputes among the leaders, the organisation failed to get the expected result.
This time, the organisation of pro-Marathi speakers has decided to field candidates in six assembly segments of the district. The leaders have been engaged in finalising the candidates to North,  South, Rural, Khanapur, Nippani and Yamakanmaradi constituencies.
The senior leader has his eyes on elections in Karnataka, especially the segments MES that finalised to contest. According to sources, he has availed information of all six constituencies that MES finalised to contest and the aspirant candidates. A couple of days ago, MES activist Amit Desai met Pawar at his Pune residence and informed about the developments in detail.
Sharad Pawar knew that an internal dispute among the leaders led to the miserable failure of MES in the past election. According to sources, this time, Pawar has asked MES to manage the rebels, and field candidates in all segments.
