A person was burnt alive when a car caught fire in an empty space on the Devinagar main road side of Bhadrappa Layout. The police investigation has revealed that the accident happened due to the mosquito wick that was lit to get rid of the mosquito. The person who was burnt in the fire has been identified as Vinod (30), a resident of Doddabommasandra. Vinod, who was an alcoholic, used to sleep in a car parked on the roadside. On the night of incident he had gone to sleep in the car late at night, and to get rid of the mosquito bite, he fell asleep after applying mosquito repellent. The spark of the mosquito wick ignited slowly and within a few moments the car was engulfed in flames. According to the police, the investigation revealed that Vinod, who was sleeping, was burnt to death while lying down.
In the CCTV footage of the building next to the scene of the incident, Vinod went inside the car and lit a mosquito net. Thus, it was known in the preliminary investigation that the dead person is Vinod. To confirm this, his mother and sister were found and called to the station and the CCTV footage was shown. The mother then confirmed that it was her son Vinod in the video, police said.
