Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday unveiled a financial support package for education and community workers, announcing multiple benefits aimed at easing their digital and operational work. A one-time allowance of ₹25,000 will be provided to more than 10,000 Vikas Mitras across villages for purchasing tablets, enabling them to carry out their duties more efficiently.
The CM further said that the monthly transportation allowance for Vikas Mitras will rise from ₹1,900 to ₹2,500, while their stationery allowance will increase from ₹900 to ₹1,500. In addition, over 30,000 Shiksha Sevaks and Talimi Markaz workers, who play a crucial role in linking children from Mahadalit, minority, and extremely backward communities to formal education, will receive ₹10,000 each for purchasing smartphones.
Along with this, it has been decided to provide financial aid to education workers, including Talimi Markaz, who are helping children from disadvantaged groups and promoting women’s literacy under the Akshar Aanchal scheme, so that they can use smartphones for digital activities, Kumar stated in a post on X.
The Chief Minister also announced an increase in the annual budget for teaching materials, raising the amount from ₹3,405 to ₹6,000 per centre. These announcements, aimed at strengthening education outreach and digital inclusion, come in the run-up to the state assembly elections.
