Tigala community urged to join survey

CH NEWS

The Akhila Karnataka Tigalara Welfare Association on Saturday called on members of the Tigala community to actively participate in the upcoming Caste and Educational Survey–2025 conducted by the Karnataka government. Addressing a press conference at Tigalara Bhavana in Ramanagara, Association President A.H. Basavaraju stressed the importance of accurately recording family and community details during the survey.

Basavaraju noted that while no specific community had demanded a caste census, the state government has initiated the survey through the Karnataka State Backward Classes Commission to assess the social and educational status of all communities. He urged Tigala families to carefully review their entries, ensuring that essential details such as religion, caste, sub-caste, mother tongue, occupation, and traditional family profession are correctly listed. He advised community members to declare their religion as Hindu, caste as Tigala, sub-caste as Agnivamsha, and mother tongue as Kannada, with agriculture and horticulture recorded as both current and traditional occupations. Highlighting the significance of accurate reporting, Basavaraju explained that the data would ensure rightful representation of the Tigala community in government records. He encouraged community leaders statewide to spread awareness and motivate households to participate fully. Prominent Tigala leaders at the press meet included T.L. Kumbayya, Honorary President B. Narasimhamurthy, S.K. Siddayya, Treasurer Kumar, and representatives from Ramanagara, Magadi, Tumakuru, Kanakapura, Maddur, and Channapatna. The event concluded with a call for unity and active involvement to safeguard the interests of the Tigala community in the survey.
