In another incident in the neighborhood, a terrorist opened fire on police officers at a security checkpoint in the Shabarra area, prompting authorities to shoot and kill him. After being instructed to stop for a search, the militant started shooting at the police. The occurrences occurred just days after a suicide bomber from the Pakistani Taliban detonated himself inside a secure mosque in Peshawar, killing over 100 people, mostly police officers.
