One employee sustained burn injuries in a short-circuit incident at the Yaramaras Thermal Power Station (YTPS) near Yaramaras in Raichur taluk.
The incident occurred while the employee was working in the switcher room of the power plant. The employee, identified as Sriram Reddy, suffered burn injuries to his hands and face.
A major mishap was reportedly averted following the incident. Sriram Reddy was immediately shifted to a private hospital in Raichur city, where he is undergoing treatment.
YTPS is a major thermal power station with a generation capacity of 1,600 MW. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Raichur Rural Police Station.
The government has entrusted the operation/maintenance work at the plant to a private company. Further details regarding the cause of the short circuit and safety measures are awaited.
