MLA Kamath launches Kadri Padavu drainage project

MANGALURU

Mangaluru City South MLA D. Vedavyasa Kamath performed the official bhoomi puja and foundation stone laying ceremony for a long-awaited drainage development project on Koppalakadu Shankar Bhavan Road in the 22nd Kadri Padavu Ward, falling under the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) limits.

The civic infrastructure project, which carries a financial outlay of ₹25 lakh, is being funded through a special development grant secured from the Public Works Department (PWD).

Addressing the gathering at the site, the BJP lawmaker lauded the persistent efforts of former Mangaluru Mayor and former local corporator Jayanand Anchan. Kamath noted that Anchan had worked continuously to clear administrative hurdles and turn the project into a reality. He highlighted that local residents had submitted multiple formal memorandums over the years, pointing out that the absence of a proper drainage channel on this specific stretch was causing severe waterlogging during the heavy coastal monsoons.

Kamath expressed satisfaction that the required funds were successfully cornered from the PWD budget to kickstart the construction work before the onset of heavy seasonal rains, bringing much-needed relief to the neighborhood.

Prominent local leaders and citizens, including Sadananda Prabhu, Ashok, Soumya Dhanaraj, Gopal Shetty, Vinay, Praveen Niddelu, and Madhusoodan Kulal, alongside dozens of booth-level BJP party workers and ward residents, were present to mark the commencement of the civil works.
