Senior theatre personality H V Venkatasubbaiah (85) fondly called Subanna, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, morning. According to the family sources, he died in a hospital at Sheshadripuram, where he was treated for an age-related ailment.
G Lokesh of Rangasampada said, Public will be allowed to pay their last respects on Wednesday, September 14. The last rites will be performed after his daughters Malavika and Manasa return from the US. Subanna was born in the year 1936 in Hampapura of Mysuru. He did his diploma in sound engineering and theatre.
He began his professional career in 1958 by joining Electronics and Radar Development Establishment (LRDE), a laboratory under Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO). He retired in the year 1996.
Subanna was one of the founding members of the prominent theatre team Rangasampada. He was associated with All India Radio (AIR) and directed and acted in the well-known play Yamana Solu. Subanna was also famous for his organized theatre documentation centre Ranga Mancha. He has received several accolades, including the prestigious Kannada Rajyotsava Award. He is survived by his wife Dr. Sharada, a well-known Homeopath, and two daughters.
