Last year, Upadhyaksha turned out to be one of the biggest blockbusters, with comedian-turned-hero Chikkanna winning over audiences. The film’s success proved his ability to lead a project, and since then, he has been very choosy about the scripts he accepts.
At present, Chikkanna is working on Lakshmi Putra, and alongside it, he has signed another exciting film. In this upcoming project, he will step into a completely new character—something different from anything he has done before. The story is said to be fresh, with a strong local touch. Directing the film is Mahesh Kumar, who has already delivered hits like Ayogya and Madagaja. He is also finishing up Ayogya 2, making this his fourth directorial venture. Interestingly, this marks the third time Chikkanna will collaborate with Mahesh.
The project is being backed by producer Somasekhar Kattigenahalli, who earlier produced Vinod Prabhakar’s Fighter. The film will officially launch in October, and its title will also be revealed on the same day.
Produced under the banner of Akash Enterprises, the movie is planned on a grand scale with heavy investment from Somasekhar. The script has been completed, with music composed by V. Harikrishna and cinematography handled by Sudhakar. Dialogues are written by Masti, Raghu Niduvalli, and Rajashekar, while Mohan B. Kere will be in charge of art direction. More details about the cast and technical crew are expected to be announced soon.
