Instead Of Davanagere It Should Be Called Devanagari, The Land Of Pious Souls: RL Umashankar

Must read

Davanagere

The name Davangere is not correct for our city, it should be called Devanagari instead of Davanagere. Because this is a city of donors. Nowhere are there more donors than here. Devanagari is the land of saints. Everyone is a donor here. No one will say no to charity said Law College President RL Umashankar.

He spoke after inaugurating the reunion program of the students who studied in the college from 1960 till date, which was organized by the Alumni Association of DR Government College in the city.

Davangere, which was earlier an industrial city, was called as the Manchester of Karnataka, now it has become Vidyanagari and called as Cambridge of Karnataka. That is why the city of Davangere should be named Devanagari. He also said that it can be called Vidyanagari.

We should donate to the society only with money. Don’t say we don’t have money instead do some small work that will benefit the society. Do your best for the benefit of the underprivileged, the oppressed. Do what makes you happy. Do not comb your hands too much. He said that instead of doing big things, we become big by doing small things.

Let the knowledge flow. Do a small good deed every day. Do something good for society. Helping parents and elders outside and inside the house earlier,  we used to press the feet of parents and elders. We used to serve them. But today it is a tragedy that parents and elders are beaten. Today’s young generation must be advised to take good care of your parents until your husband or wife comes.

Retired Principals of DRR Government Polytechnic M Panchakshari, TG Virupakshappa, BT Markandaiah were present as chief guests. Principal GB Sadanandappa presided.

Old student HK Pandurangappa offered prayers at the beginning. Rajeswari condoled the departed lecturers and students. Lecturer KB Rudresh extended the welcome. Edward Stanley of the Alumni Association presented the programme. Prakash Mole delivered introductory address.
