A One-Day Seminar To Create Awareness About The Role Of Stakeholders

Minister of Water Resources Developlment Govinda M Karajola said that the credit and honour goes to the Mysuru kings for building dams and making the farmers of Mysuru part of the country rich in ideas that are developing in the country.

On behalf of Kaveri Neeravari Nigam, he inaugurated a one-day seminar programme  to create awareness about the role of stakeholders in managing the adverse effects that may occur in case of floods in the river basin of Krishnarajasagar, Harangi, Kabini and Chikkavale dams at KRS Kusuma Chandrasekhar Kalyana Mantapa, Mogarahalli (Manti) of Srirangapatna Taluk.

The contribution made by the Maharajas of Mysuru is immense. We have a social responsibility to preserve their contributions for future generations. Every citizen should make good use of water without wasting it, he said.

Dams Emergency Action Plan should be effectively implemented to prevent loss of public property, loss of life, damage to infrastructure and socio-economic losses due to rain. The cooperation of the public and the concerned departments is necessary, he said.

At the same time, Ravindra Srikanthaiah, MLA of Srirangapatna Assembly Constituency, said that the water in Krishnaraja Sagar has increased.  The dam of KRS is secure, there is no need to panic about it, he said.

During the rule of Maharajas, they had built KRS very securely with the hard work of Sir M Vishweswaraiah.   Even if any government comes to power, it is the duty of the governments to maintain KRS safely.

 Meanwhile, District Fire Officer K. Gururaj spoke and gave information about the tools used in disaster management such as the Bron toe Skylift system which is operated by hand in the event of an accident.

MLA of KR Nagar S.R.Mahesh, Malavalli MLA Dr K Annadani, Nanjanagud MLA B Harshavardhan, Managing Director of Kaveri Neeravari Nigam Shankaregowda and others participated.
