Mohammed Yousuf, accused of harassing his wife Shehanaz allegedly misusing triple talaq denied all allegations against him in the complaint. On the contrary, he has accused Shahnaz of long term infidelity and also a threat to his life from her alleged paramour.
Addressing the media at the Patrika Bhavan here on Monday, March 7, Mohammed Yousuf alleged that his wife had been having an illicit relationship with one Shariff, a married man from Muloor, for the past several years. He categorically dismissed as false the allegations of triple talaq and dowry harassment made against him by his wife.
He claimed that he had not married a second time as alleged, and challenged his wife to provide any evidence she has to prove him wrong. He also denied having meted out any kind of harassment to his wife. “In fact, I have given her Rs 70 lac. She has misused the triple talaq law. Shariff from Muloor has threatened to kill me,” Yousuf claimed.
He said further that Shehanaz started to create trouble in his family a year after their marriage. He added that once over the phone she had said talaq thrice to him. “On the day she claims I told triple talaq to her father, I was not even in Udupi. I came to my native place on March 3 for personal work. As this case has been filed I am now compelled to stay back,” he stated.
Yousuf also claimed that he had stayed away from Shehanaz. He said that he would return abroad once the controversy was cleared.
