Heatwave boosts India’s durable goods demand

New Delhi

India’s consumer durables sector is seeing a gradual recovery as rising temperatures drive stronger demand, according to a report by Nuvama Institutional Equities. After a weak start to the year, recent heatwave conditions have boosted sales, especially in southern India, with overall volumes improving in the past 7–10 days. However, April sales are expected to stay flat year-on-year, with stronger growth likely in the coming months depending on weather trends. Companies have already raised prices to manage higher input costs, while premium products continue to lead demand. The outlook remains cautiously positive despite margin pressures.
