Jagdish Vishwakarma on Thursday emphasized the resilience of party workers and criticized opposition parties while addressing a public gathering in Palanpur ahead of upcoming local body elections.
Speaking at a Vikas Sankalp Sabha, Vishwakarma referred to incidents of political violence in West Bengal and Kerala, alleging that workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party had faced severe attacks, including killings, in those regions.
Despite such challenges, he said party members remained committed to strengthening the organization and continuing their engagement with the public.
He stated that BJP workers maintain year-round contact with citizens and actively participate in public service, contrasting this with opposition leaders whom he claimed are visible only during election periods. Targeting the Indian National Congress, Vishwakarma alleged that the party has lost public trust due to a lack of clear policies, leadership, and intent.
The Gujarat BJP chief also highlighted welfare initiatives undertaken by both the central and state governments. He pointed to relief measures for farmers affected by unseasonal rains, including a ₹10,000 crore assistance package and procurement of crops worth ₹15,000 crore at minimum support prices. According to him, these funds have been directly transferred to farmers’ bank accounts under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
On national security, Vishwakarma said there has been a significant shift in the government’s response to terrorism under BJP leadership. He claimed that earlier administrations relied largely on statements, whereas the current approach focuses on decisive action. Referring to measures such as surgical and air strikes, he reiterated that a zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism remains central to the BJP’s governance approach.
The event forms part of the party’s campaign efforts as it seeks to consolidate support ahead of local elections in Gujarat, with leaders highlighting governance achievements and organizational strength to appeal to voters.
