Intro: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary questioned the intent and coherence of Gandhi’s remarks
New Delhi
The sharp reactions from NDA leaders came after Rahul Gandhi’s remarks during a rally in Thoothukudi, where he alleged that Nitish Kumar had been “compromised” and claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party had exerted control over him.
Gandhi also suggested that Nitish Kumar’s political standing weakened following his resignation as Chief Minister and subsequent move to the Rajya Sabha.
Responding to the criticism, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary questioned the intent and coherence of Gandhi’s remarks. He said that Rahul Gandhi’s statements often lack clarity and are difficult for the public to interpret. Chaudhary further alleged that Gandhi does not demonstrate seriousness in politics and fails to adhere to the standards of parliamentary decorum.
In a separate response, Bihar Minister Ram Kripal Yadav dismissed Gandhi’s allegation that Nitish Kumar resigned under pressure from the BJP. He stated that such claims reflect the mindset of the Congress Party, which he accused of having a history of exerting pressure for political gains. Yadav asserted that Nitish Kumar made his decisions independently and without any external influence.
The exchange marks a fresh escalation in political tensions between the ruling NDA and the opposition Congress party. Bihar’s political landscape has remained highly dynamic in recent years, with shifting alliances and leadership changes often becoming subjects of national debate.
Political observers note that such confrontations are likely to intensify as parties gear up for upcoming electoral battles, with leaders from both sides sharpening their rhetoric to consolidate support among voters.
