BEIJING
Travel between India and China just got a lot easier. Air China has officially brought back its direct flight service between Beijing and Delhi, marking a major step in reopening the skies between the two neighbors.
The new service will run three times a week, that is on, Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Travelers will fly on an Airbus 330, with flights leaving Beijing in the afternoon and landing in Delhi by 8:20 PM. For those watching their budget, one-way economy tickets are expected to start around $523.
This move is part of a bigger trend. Just last week, China Eastern Airlines restarted its route between Kunming and Kolkata. These changes follow a long period where direct flights were paused due to the pandemic and border tensions. Now, both nations are working to make travel and business cooperation more convenient for their citizens.
Indian carriers are also joining in. IndiGo recently launched daily flights between Kolkata and Shanghai, using modern, fuel-efficient planes to keep up with the growing demand.
Beyond just flights, the Indian government recently updated its investment rules. This change aims to help startups and tech companies get funding more quickly. With more planes in the air and new business rules in place, leaders hope to see a boost in “ease of doing business” and a stronger connection between the two most populous countries in the world.
